Public Transport Tickets
When using Prague’s public transport, you will have to buy tickets.
Where to buy tickets?
Paper tickets can be bought in yellow ticket machines (some are still coins only, but some allow credit cards). Usually they are located at the metro stations and at some tram or bus stops. You can also purchase them at the metro ticket offices (they are not present at all metro stations). Some kiosks, newsagent’s or hotels also sell them.
Nowadays, you can also buy tickets in the orange machines located directly inside some trams and buses.
Did you validate the ticket?
Yes, it is important to validate your ticket (time stamp), when entering public transport. Don’t validate the same ticket multiple times (the time you travel matters, not the amount of transfers you make)!
Validators are yellow machines placed at metro entrance or inside trams or buses. Insert the ticket into the slot until it stops and wait for the click, which notifies that the ticket has been stamped. Keep the ticket until the end of the trip.
Tip: validate the ticket as soon as possible when getting on the bus or tram.
